LPH History Fun Gaining Momentum
My local newspaper came across this blog, and they’re doing a write up on the LetsPlayHistory.org/.com project. As this is a small town newspaper, it may take a week or two for the write up to find inclusion. The newspaper reporter seemed genuinely enthusiastic, which makes me happy :-). I think it’s a fun project, too!
K-Love Radio might also announce the free squidoo.com/playhistory lens for reenactment how-to, as a family summer activity suggestion. I don’t know if the activity was quite what they were looking for, but it might be. As I understand it, this kind of announcement happens without forewarning.
So far the squidoo.com/playhistory lens has received two 5/5 star ratings. Way cool!
My authentic costuming guide is ready, but I’m stalling on promotions. I could get an ISBN right away and list on Amazon.com, but I think there’s wisdom in getting some feedback on the effectiveness of the guide first, make any improvements, AND THEN go for major distribution on the second edition. Yeah, I think I’ll stick with selling on ebay at first, just to get some feedback.
I am also making some headway on the coast to coast Pony Express ride. I have typed up a draft invitation that will go out to several US horse associations. I am hoping this will be a productive means of reaching good numbers of potential participants. The sooner we have adequate numbers (at least 250 riders), the sooner we can begin scouting the route, and planning. It would sure be nice if we could do the ride this fall, but more than likely it won’t happen until next May or June.
