About LPH / FAQ’s

About LetsPlayHistory.org/.com

LetsPlayHistory (LPH) is the ultimate history enthusiasts’ club, centrally serving the USA online.

Announced in June of 2007 by founder Carrie Franzwa, LPH services will in time include national and local event calendars, research and history investigation networking, co-op purchasing and manufacturing, a historical how-to “University” and archive, classifieds, forums, a history group registry, a suttler registry, and a number of other creative services that make history a pleasure to learn and share.

While the LPH club is fundamentally meant to provide a low/virtually no-cost support and promotional system for smaller not-for-profit history groups, related groups of any size and commercial status can benefit from the same LPH services.  In the end this creates a beneficial relationship that allows smaller groups to “ride on the coat-tails” of larger commercialed organizations’ traffic stream, much like smaller retail outfits benefit from locating next to a large anchore store.

This relationship will be synergistic in creating one uniquely specialized online community of history-loving enthusiasts.  As LPH connects greater numbers of the American public with enjoyable, history-rich activities year round, it is foreseeable that a cultural trend will emerge, making history education and preservation as a matter of pastime fun for families.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  How long will the LPH club be free to the public?  A:  The duration of the free test-drive period has not been determined.  When public interest in general is strong enough to support the transition, we will implement a member access system.

Q:  How much does it cost to become an LPH club member?  A:  It’s free until LPH is transitioned into a member-accessed site, at which time the dues will be $12 annually or bi-annually, depending on hired consultant recommendations.  Either way the cost will break down to only one or two dollars a month.  It should be noted that not all the LPH services will require membership.  Many will remain free of charge.

Q:  How is LPH being funded during the free startup period?  A:  As Carrie is working on the LPH project full time, she is selling her art, her hand made vintage-style wooden jigsaw puzzles, and a couple of ebooks, all to fund LPH startup expenses, and help keep her family afloat during the free access period.   As traffic to LPH grows, there is also the potential for affiliate commissions.

Q:  How will the LPH event calendars be different from other reenacting website calendars?  A:  The LPH calendars will in time receive much greater traffic due to their catering to a broader, stronger base of history interests.  For example, high profile interests, such as vintage car shows, will be to our calendars what anchor stores are to the small retailer in a mall setting.

Q:  How will the LPH Co-op work?  A:  Members will make and reply to suggestions in the forums / on the blog, in order to determine what goods or services they would like to obtain by common power.  Once an item or service has been verified as having a large enough base of financial interest, a member volunteer will work with an LPH representative to approach a supplier or manufacturer.  Once arrangements are made, the member volunteer will, with help from LPH, oversee member fulfillment.
