LPH Event Calendars and Forums On Their Way! Update
[Update: October 6, 2007 - At long last we’re making progress on the new website! We had two contracted coders back out of the project, which burned a lot of time. Finally, we have a coder who has been at it now for a week. As I explained to my newsletter subscribers, I’m done trying to force a launch date. It has been insanity to try. All I can give at this point is an estimate of sometime in November. The good news is, the site will be highly functional, including a community builder, the proposed calendar system, classifieds and forums. We are very excited! Thanks for staying tuned!]
[Update: August 23, 2007 - We are hiring a professional to create a “bridge” between software on the site. Estimate of calendar launch is Sept. 17th.]
[Update: August 10, 2007 - Solution found, and we are loading/fine-tuning a combination calendar and forum system. It will take us approximately two more weeks to have the system ready for use. This system is NICE, and will allow us to deliver even more benefits than we imagined. Can’t wait for you to see!]
LPH Event Calendars Coming Soon! Update
[Update: August 1, 2007 - The LPH Calendars are still in progress. We are experiencing technical conflicts which we need help in resolving, and to that end we have enlisted a professional consulting service. We will post a new calendar release date here, just as soon as we know what our remedial course of action is to be. Thanks for your enthusiasm and patience!]
LPH Event Calendars Coming Soon!
I’m pretty derned excited!
As of June 23rd, we have begun the process of building the LPH Event Calendar system. It is going to be awesome! We are waiting for a system upgrade to the product we will be implementing, which has a target launch date of July 16 (’07). On our volunteer schedule it will take an additional two weeks after that, so we’re looking at late July for the LPH calendar system to be ready.
The new LPH calendar system will include calendars by state, and also a U.S. inter-state event calendar for activities that cross state lines, such as Lewis and Clark Expeditions, or Pony Express Rides.
The nice thing about being able to post on a national system, is people who travel, for example, will be able to follow, or plan to attend events in any part of the country, and do so from any part of the country. How terrific is that!?
And who may post, you ask? Anyone who contributes to the reenactment arts in America. This includes, but is not limited to, estate sale organizers, antique gun, and antique car show organizers, history museums and traveling institutes, veterans groups, school groups, brand new history groups who just want to announce their meeting dates, and of course, formal history reenactment groups of every kind.
There’s even plans, as manpower permits, to include television history programs.
If you love history and antique stuff, these are the calendars to frequent! You’ll love them!
All posts to the LPH calendars will be free of charge, AND the self-post system will be available 24/7.
In the beginning our calendars will be open to the public for an undetermined test-drive period, then they will be converted to member-accessed only. LPH membership will be an easy $12 annually or bi-annually (depending on outside consultant recommendations). These dues will allow for full time LPH webmaster support, which in turn will allow us to begin offering state-by-state newsletters and publicity, also free of charge to members.
If you’d like to be informed when the calendars are ready for use, just Subscribe to our free club newsletter (Subscribe button to the right). There’s no obligation, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
