How to Make History Fun in 3 Easy Stages

Club Benefits Coming for You and Your Family

LetsPlayHistory.org (LPH for short) is foremost about having good old-fashioned fun with history! Whether you enjoy genealogy, museum-hopping, antiques collecting, reenacting, or other related activities, LPH provides a central platform for support of these culturally rich activities year-round.

As a member you will enjoy numerous resources designed to connect you with your history-related interests. You will especially appreciate our extensive national and local event calendars, as well as a monthly newsletter for each US state, that list great entertainment ideas all year long (calendars coming soon!). Our contributing members use these calendars and newsletters to announce everything from estate auctions and TV programs, to reenactments and vintage car shows!

Our calendars and newsletters cover:

Interstate events such as:

  • Lewis & Clark expeditions
  • Hot Air Balloon tours and races
  • Pony Express rides
  • Wagon Trains
  • Antique Railroading
  • Antique Aviation events
  • SCA groups
  • History programs on TV

Intrastate events such as:

  • Flea markets, estate sales, and antiques auctions
  • Renaissance fairs, including Jousting tournaments
  • Civil War era reenactments, including Underground Railroad and Blue & Grey balls
  • Roman Chariot racing
  • Wild West events, Including Ghost Town tours, Antique Gun shows, Gold Rush camps, Alamo reenactments
  • American Indian living history events, including Lacrosse tournaments
  • Roaring 1920's groups
  • WWI groups
  • WWII groups, including 1940's Big Band dances
  • 1950's groups, including Sock Hops
  • Vintage Railroad Dinner Theatres
  • American Revolution Reenactments
  • Geneological events
  • Frontiersman groups
  • Victorian groups, including Teas, Balls, Fashion shows, Carriage drives, Painting in the Gardens, Poetry Recitals, Women's Suffrage
  • Sherlock Holmes Mystery groups
  • Horses Through History
  • And More!

Whatever the event, you can attend as a spectator, or you may choose to get more involved, such as in becoming a hobby-group member, or even a reenactor. You will also have access to resources for starting and promoting a new group of your own, or for creating a fundraising activity (see Reenactor Services below).

If you like to travel, our calendars even make it easy to find activities to attend while you're on the go.

As a member you will also have access to a growing list of history-related resources. One resource that you'll love is our user-rated, online how-to University library and mini-classes ($5 to $10 on average). In time this historical how-to knowledge base will include period shoe making (street safe, not flimsy!), natural hide tanning, period dances, and much, much more.

We also make it easy for you to learn from other members and history buffs through forum chat. And, if you happen to be one of those history buffs, you are always welcome to contribute to the online University, which could potentially generate royalties for a lifetime.

As a bonus, all our members enjoy occasional co-op purchasing opportunities for reproduction goods. If you haven't found the reproduction item of your dreams, we may be able to produce a prototype, and, if enough of our members share your interest, we will work together as a community to make production a reality.

History is sounding like a lot of fun, isn't it?!

Another resource that will soon be offered through LPH is free history-related classifieds. Do you have antiques to sell, or are you looking for something in particular? Post an ad free of charge, and as often as you like. You'll be reaching out to a targeted community of history enthusiasts like you!

We are THE premier internet resource for great interactive, and educational entertainment opportunities all year long!

Together you and all our LPH members become a unique support system for smaller, often under-funded non-profit reenactment groups. LPH membership creates a win-win system providing no cost publicity tools to history groups of every kind, including reenactors. Additionally, your membership and participation in the LPH University program helps support ongoing historical research and preservation, making it possible to hand that collected knowledge down to the next generation.

Together we're contributing to a cultural treasure, AND having fun along the way! Come join us today by subscribing to our free club newsletter!

Club Benefits Coming for Reenactors, History Professionals, and Planners

Whether you're a public school, religious organization, museum, travel or event planner, genealogical society, formal group, or an informal startup, we're here to support you with information, networking, and public promotion free of charge (or $12 bi-annual* membership, once formally instated). Any history related organization or start-up group can announce unlimited activities, without cost, by posting on our calendars, in our classifieds, and/or by contributing to our newsletters. Our automated system is easy to use, and available 24/7 (calendars coming soon!).

We also provide our reenacting and professional members with unique, history-related fundraising opportunities. One of these opportunities is through publishing material for our online University library and classes. We offer generous joint venture opportunities for clear, relevant, how-to material. Through your contributions, LPH will quickly become an online library of culturally rich historical information, which will serve generations to come!

Another way we support you, and all our members, is through organizing co-op purchasing opportunities for reproduction goods, period costume patterns, fabric by the bolt, and more.

And, to help our member reenactment startups, we provide free event planning tools. If you have a unique history-based event idea, there's no reason not to bring it to life! Through forum exchange and free advertising, anyone can pull together a new group of people who share the same historical interests.

At LPH we also realize that acquiring antiques is a typical quest for our members. We are therefore happy to be an announcement resource for auction houses that cover estate sales, and for antiques event planners of every kind. These entities will find our free calendars and classifieds to be highly targeted.

In short, LetsPlayHistory.org is here to help make historical learning and reenacting the great generational pastime of our day!

Your membership provides you with these very valuable resources and more, all for just $12 bi-annually* (free until instituted) - about the cost of one budget dictionary. So why wait? We're excited to have you on board! Come join us today by subscribing to our free club newletter!

To all our history practitioners, please accept a special Thank You from all our members, for all you do!
